Scan Reg(istry)

You can also help yourselves enormously by running a program that you have (but probably didn't know it) called SCANREG this can only be run from the MS-DOS mode prompt (via the Shut Down menu), then you simply type in:-

 SCANREG /fix [press enter]  

there is also another switch that can be used:-

SCANREG /opt [press enter] this will Defragment the Registry File

(by the way, you start Windows again by typing EXIT)

This program is simply another very effective way of clearing the dead bits out your Registry

P.S. Apparently this is only available in Win98, sorry about that.
