Emergency Start Up Floppy Disc
First and foremost you must have a bootable Floppy Disc for when things
don't work at all, you can do this very easily by navigating to the following:-
Settings> Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> Start Up Disc.
Of course be sure to Label the Floppy Disc accordingly and put
it in a safe place. When you need to use the Emergency Floppy, I hope
you never do, but it is best to be prepared. You will perhaps have
to alter just ONE setting in your computers BIOS chip, this is often available
by pressing the DELETE key when you see the memory being tested while
the computer going through it's initializing process.
The Floppy drive is A: you might have to change the Boot Up setting (in
the BIOS) from C: (which is your Hard drive) to A: then
ESCAPE save settings and Exit.
Now Reset the PC, using the Ctrl/Alt/Del keys pressed all at once and
then you should then be able to Boot up from the Floppy disc.
You will then be left at the A: prompt which will in DOS, which was the
"operating system" before Windows got invented.
Now you will need to type in C: (and press ENTER).
If you have previously RUN the program ERU ????? (click
here IF you haven't) you should be able to
restore your previous settings and you should be able to regain control
of your PC yet again !!!???
